*At the end of the simulation check that you still have all nonconsumable items on this list. Sort and count remaining bills into like piles. Bring additional bills to the central pile and collect missing bills from there as well.*

This simulation is broken up into four 15-minute “weeks” representing one month in the life of a refugee family.

TASKS

You have four major tasks:

1. COLLECT Transportation Passes (1 per family) when they arrive at your table.
2. SELL Transportation Passes for $1 each.
3. Cash Checks (keep 10%)
4. Collect loan payments for those with loans listed on the Record of Payments list.

Morality Alignment

CHAOTIC NEUTRAL = Takes any chance to make a Quick Buck. May scam some people along the way.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. TRANSPORTATION PASSES
   1. Collect 1 pass per family per visit. Those without transportation passes should be turned away.
   2. You are the only place people can get more transportation passes. Sell them for $1 Each.
   3. ALWAYS suggest that they buy more than they think they need.
   4. Transportation passes represent the time, effort, and cost of transporting yourself or your family across a sprawling city like Jacksonville.

3. SCAMMING STUDENTS
   1. If you think someone may not count the money you give them or does not speak English, you may try to “make a quick buck” by scamming them out of some of their money. You may take up to 20% - no more!
   2. If you run out of money or transportation passes, one staff member or floater can go around to other businesses to collect “used” ones to sell again.
4. CASHING CHECKS
   1. If a family comes to you with a paycheck to cash, inform them that you take 10%. (Round to the nearest dollar)
   2. Give them their money minus your portion.

5. COLLECTING PAYMENTS
1. If someone comes to cash a check but owes money to Quik Cash, take as much as possible out of their check to pay yourself back.
2. Record any payments made on the Record of Payments form on your webpage.
3. If payments are not made by week 3, refuse to sell them transportation passes until you get your money.

REMINDERS:

• If someone has RED on their nametag, you may NOT speak English to them unless they have a translator present. YOU MAY MIME/GESTURE AS MUCH AS YOU LIKE (and so can they!)
• If someone has YELLOW on their nametag, you may only speak TEN words in English to them throughout your interaction unless they have a translator present. YOU MAY MIME/GESTURE AS MUCH AS YOU LIKE (and so can they!)

TL;DR:

Sell transportation passes, cash checks (for a fee!), collect payments on loans, and make title/payday loans. Don’t forget to guard the money – you could be robbed at any time! If you are robbed – call the police and immediately close the building for 5 minutes so nobody can use your services while you balance the accounts. If you think someone won’t check/count their money – try to cheat them out of some of it.
