FAMILY BACKGROUND
Ethnicity - Pashtun-Afghan Religion - Sunni Muslim
Your family arrived in the U.S. just over 1 year ago under Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) Status. Since there are no surnames in your home region, the immigration officer assigned all members of the family the first name “FNU”, meaning “First Name Unknown” as a clerical error. It appears like this on all of your documents.
You own a 4-bedroom house in a low-income neighborhood. The parents and eldest son are trying to get their college education from Afghanistan certified in the U.S. so they can pursue skilled and degreed employment opportunities but have been unsuccessful so far. You use public transportation to get around. The children need to acquire school supplies immediately as the school year has just begun. You do not have health insurance. There are several places of worship within a bus ride from your apartment complex and your family is looking for a permanent place of worship.
During the third week of the simulation the Realville Public School will be closed for holiday.
